This is the original still life image that I am using.

This is the gesture I did of the image.

I then started adding plumb and level lines as well as comparative measurements to make sure every figure was in the correct place.

Sighting Techniques

The basic position for the sighting techniques is to hold your pencil in front of you at arms length, close one eye and look at the subject along your pencil.


Three sighting strategies:

1. Finding the midpoint:

• Think of the subject as an object you can divide in half, and make sure the top half of the subject fits in the top part of your paper, and the bottom half of the subject fits in the bottom half of your paper.

2. Using plumb and level lines:

• Use your pencil to make lines up and down the paper that correspond with your subject. Make sure the lines match up to the subject, so that when you draw the proportions are correct.

3. Taking comparative measurements :

• Measuring a part of the subject with your pencil and comparing it to another part of the subject to make sure
